The CCAE executive board allocated funding for up to 19 delegates to the NCAE state convention. Nominations for delegates closed on January 27, 2015. The following individuals, by virtue of their nomination, will serve as delegates to the NCAE convention in Wilmington.

CCAE is allotted 5 delegates to the NEA convention, in addition to our President, Joseph Sorce.
Members should have received an email with a link to vote in the NEA delegate election.
Please use the ballot to select up to 5 delegates as our representatives to the NEA convention.

We are approaching the time of year when we hold our election of officers and election of delegates to the NCAE and NEA conventions. Every member is encouraged to take part in this process. Please take a moment to read the job descriptions for the executive officers and consider nominating or accepting a nomination to fill one of those roles.

Note: There are 2 separate nomination forms. One is for CCAE officer and the other is for convention delegate. The NCAE convention is in Wilmington March 20-21 and the NEA convention is in Orlando June 28-July 6.
The floor is open for nominations from January 20-26, 2015.
Elections will be held Jan. 28 – Feb. 4, 2015. The elections will also be administered electronically.

Why wait for the CCAE nomination forms to come out when you can seek to be a delegate now?
Jan. 7th is the deadline for completing the NCAE election form. It is really simple to do and if you are elected then you could spend some sunny days in Orlando while representing our local association at the national meeting. What a great opportunity to step up, be a teacher leader, and feel empowered in our profession!
You will need your member number which can be found on your membership card or on the NCAE magazine you receive in the mail. If you still can’t find it, contact ccaemedia@gmail.com and someone will respond as soon as possible.

Calling all middle school and high school teachers. Your students have a unique opportunity to participate in a Youth Summit as part of Cumberland County’s “Stop the Violence” campaign. It will be held from 11AM until 1:30PM on January 19th at the Crown Auditorium. Lunch will be included. Some of the areas of interest as reported by students are: Scared Straight; Anger Management; Gang Activity; Ethics; Substance Abuse, etc.

The Executive Board of CCAE hopes that all of our members and the entire staff of CCS feel appreciated this week. CCAE members should have received a token of our appreciation in their boxes at school. In this spirit, our President, Joe Sorce, wrote a guest editorial featured in the Fayetteville Observer. If you didn’t see it, please take time to read in now.
then maybe you will be interested in an opportunity to reach out to community members and give them something more to be thankful for.
Here is one such opportunity we recently heard about.
“Hello Family and Friends,
We the McGregor’s Team Members are getting ready for our Thanksgiving dinner and we need the support of all of you. We would like monetary donations to help pay for the building which is now $75.00/hr and we would like to rent the building for 4 hours also we would like to take 3-7 homeless family’s off the street for a night. The rooms are $60.00 each, also we would like to have some winter items such as: coats, gloves, hats, socks, flash lights, and candles to give to the homeless.
The Beginning Teacher Support Office is happy to announce our annual BT Social will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at The Taphouse from 4-until. This social is sponsored by CCAE and Horace Mann. We will have free appetizers, music, dancing, and lots of door prizes.
